Kehillat Cornerstone is a progressive Shabbat learning community for K-7 students and their families, using a social justice curriculum newly launching this fall. Our purpose is to focus on Jews who may feel like the mainstream Jewish community overlooks aspects of our identities -- Jews of color, LGBTQ+ Jews, disabled or chronically ill Jews, poor Jews, and more -- and create a space where our experiences are at the center.
Our name is inspired by a verse from the Psalms:
In this setting, each student will know that every aspect of their identity is recognized and valued; that they are not an outlier, but a central building block, a cornerstone.
